Why can't I post a link to my gallery from another site?

I'm trying to show some people on a landscaping forum my gallery and posted the link and a little picture comes up that says "Please Visit www.fordtrucks.com".

Why is that?

You may want to ask in the FTE Support link.

What is the url for it without the www. ? .com part?

Like many sites we prevent bandwidth theft (yup, that's what its called!). Basically its getting FTE to serve up image bandwidth to display on someone else's site. Link to the gallery rather than directly to the images within them and you won't be unknowningly having us pay to serve an image elsewhere. They'll still be able to see the images but they'll have to visit your gallery to do so.

You'll find many very large sites use the same technique to prevent image hotlinking, and there are truck sites as well.

You can tell me if I'm out of line here but:

To hotlink images to differant sites you can use www.photobucket.com
Its a free site and allows hotlinking. You can either put the picin a post or the URL address to click on.

We also advise people to use that site or others to host pictures.

We prefer that people post links to pictures rather than post the pics themselves to help dialup users.

The galleries here are for FTE users to display pictures of their trucks etc to other FTE users. We are not in the business of serving up images to other sites which is why the images are blocked from other sites. When someone links to a gallery here and someone uses that link they are visiting this site.
