What about non-bronco owners and non-offroaders?

Anyone and everyone is welcome. But before I can schedule it for good I need to get my heads off and into the shop to be machined. I would like to do this Wednesday but I can't find anyone around here who knows anything about removing heads to help me out.

What kind of questions do you have? Removing heads is pretty simple really.

Well I guess my main question is, what the hell can I do to prevent snapping more bolts? I broke 2 off in the block when taking off the intake manifold. I heard I can put the impact down in there, but that would really stress the bolts, correct?? Remember, these bolts are 21 years old and never touched in that long.

You probably broke either the two in the front or the two in the back. Fords are famouse for corrosion in those locations. Impact away on the head bolts. *Impact on removal only* Make sure you drain the coolant first and of course you will need an oil change when finished.

Best advice I can give you is what won't help you now. Always soak them down with some sort of rust penetrate the best you can, let them sit for a day while that soaks in and before trying to crank them out, give each a sharp tap or two. I've never needed to use an impact to remove them, should be able to muscle up on it. And doing it by hand you'll know better if it's not budging and might possibly snap. Good luck getting those broken ones out though.
