Has anyone tried any of the Edelbrock equipment such as intake manifolds, throttle bodies, or cams. I have an 89 F250 with the 5.8 and was disappointed in the amount of power you get stock. I put a catco converter and a flowmaster force 2 and could tell a definate difference but still not enough. Pulling a boat uphill still seems to be a struggle although not as bad as before. Looking for some performance mods under $1000 and the intake sounds good when you read what edelbrock says I just wonder if its as good as they hype it up to be.

 

I think your next cost-effective move is a switch to lower rear gears.
What ratio are you running now? Ford's stock towing package ratio was 3.55-to-1

Your right it is a 3.55 with no limited slip, I would assume that a 4.10 gear is the next step. Thanks for the suggestion.
