Will a 1989 steering wheel work in my truck?

I am not sure if this would go here or in steering, so I will try it in both. The problem I am having is that I have a 81 f100, and I do not like the steering wheel, it is too thin and that makes it seam so fragile, In short, it is just plainly not comfortable. I would like to put in the newer design like my dad has in his 1997. I found one in the junkyard from either a 1989 or 90. The dash is completly different from my current dash, but the steering collumn looks to be the same. The junkyard says that there is no returns, so if I buy that steering wheel and it turns out not to fit then I am down some money. Can anyone tell me if that wheel will fit my old truck?
