Flowmaster American Thunder

What series muffler comes with the American Thunder system? A lot is going to depend on what muffler comes with the system. I myself have a Flowmaster Original 40 series muffler on my truck dumped before the rear axle. The sound is great but is very loud and there is considerable resonance inside the cab. On my last truck I had the same muffler but with pipes out the back and it was a lot quieter but still louder than most. If you need a quieter muffler that doesn't make any interior noise you should check into Magnaflow or Gibson. Gibsons are more for those who want the power gains of aftermarket exhaust but don't want any of the noise.

Interior resonance is synonymous with Flowmaster. I am going to be bolting up, and subsequently making some short clips of my truck with a Bassani catback within the next week. You might want to put any purchases on a temporary hold. This will be the second vehicle I have run Bassani on. They have such an awesome exhaust note, and are relatively quiet in the cab.

The system uses the new Super 40 muffler. Here is what it says in the site:

Includes installation hardware, 2.50" mandrel bent tubing, new Super 40 muffler and Flowmaster's 3.00" embossed exhuast tip. </td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody> </table>
The only thing I am curious about is, if I go with this system: the sound like you guys are talking about and will it work with my 35.7 gallon fuel tank.

Flowmaster American Thunder Super 40's Dual
I put the Flowmaster system on my 04 Supercrew FX4 and it sounds great!!!! I have read a lot of comments from people saying it does not make much of a difference in sound, and I would have to disagree. When I drive down the road now, the exhaust sound turns heads when I hit the gas. It also sounds great when I start it up and when it is at idol. I would recommend this system to anyone!!!! 5 out of 5 stars!!

Anyone who says a Flowmaster makes no difference on the truck is deaf . The 40 series on my truck is relatively quiet at idle (would be louder with tips) but when I gas it (even gently) it turns heads. Has a nice rumble with gentle throttle and when you punch it it's loud and throaty but still deep. I know a lot of people don't like Flowmaster but everyone I know loves the sound of my truck. The other satisfying thing is driving in parking lots and gassing it randomly. I can usually set off a few car alarms.

I had Flowmasters on a couple different trucks and cars years ago. The only problem I had was with harmonics. At certain RPM/loads it would cause the whole truck to shake. Usually at about 1850-1950 RPM, light load. It would also do it in the garage, warming up. Made enough noise to feel through the wall in the house. Not load, exactly, but DEEP. On a Vette, at 2400 RPM (only seen around town...) the duel two chamber Flowmasters would rattle things in the cockpit. Great power, etc. Did they clear all that up? I don't get any of that with the Magnflow, but haven't used Flowmasters in more than six years.
