cluster lights, blown fuses

cluster lights, blown fuses
I recently installed a new tuner and cd player in my 86 F150. There is no amps or any big speakers. I simply swapped the stock stereo for a Blaupunkt unit and now I keep blowing the 5 amp cluster light fuse. Are the dash lights somehow wired through radio lines? I thought about trying a 10 amp fuse but I'm not really fond of car fires...any suggestions?

Did you use an aftermarket installation harness? If so then the harness wouldn't have used the hook-up for the dash lights. When I installed the Pioneer CD unit in my truck, I used one of the schosche (don't know if I spelled it right) harnesses. Everything works perfectly, and my radio lights don't really need to be dimmed (of couse they're not hooked into the dimmer circuit).
You might want to see if you used the dimmer wire or not. It could be a pretty good possibility that something is feeding back to that circuit and blowing the fuse.
