whistleing noise in 1999 f150
I have a 1999 F150 that just started making a whistleing noise and the Ford dealer says it sounds like it's coming from the passenger side air bag area. They changed the antifreeze, checked the transmission and torque convertor and charged me $279 sending me on my way with the noise intact. The noise is the only symptom on this truck with 35k on it and is very range bound 19 to 21 hundred rpm, worse when it's cold. Really got me stumped and wondering if anyone has ever herd of this or has any ideas. I worried that it may be something serious developing. (the manager at the ford dealership said he would'nt worry about it but I don't think he cares)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1999 F150 with a whistle
I have a 1999 F150 with 38000 miles on it and it has been making a whistling noise for the past year or so. I don’t use the truck a lot so it sets in the garage until we go on a vacation. The whistling noise is louder when it is cold and is very range bound RPM wise. It only makes the noise between 1900 and 2100 RPM setting still or moving. I took it back to the dealer against my better judgment and they had it for 4 days. During that time they changed a line going to my heater core because that is where the noise sounded like it was coming from and changed my coolant because it was old and sent me on my way $370 poorer and still had the noise. The noise is the only symptom, the engine runs fine and the transmission seems to shift fine also. Anyone ever ran into this one before, I can’t handle any more Ford dealers for awhile.

When it's in the minus 20 to minus 40 degree F. area, I get a squeeling noise from the front...I figured it's some of the belts. It only happens when I try to get above 35 mph and haven't tried going much faster than that, because it was such a freaky noise. Otherwise she runs great and no problems.

My truck does a whistle sound when it is really cold outside. Took it to the dealer thinking the bearing might be going on the alternator. I get the feeling they hate me there because they never ever help me out. Ford always sends me on my way.I found out on my own that this noise started when I installed a K+N air filter. Good luck.
