Arrow FTE First Annual National Rally

Hello to all the FTE members, I have some important information to pass along that concerns all of us. Some of you are already familiar with me but for those who aren’t let me introduce myself. I am Rollie (FordBorn) the Kansas Chapter leader. Our chapter in conjunction with FTE would like to announce the date and location for FTE’s National Rally. Thanks to geographic location Kansas has been honored to be able to host this event that no doubt will turn into an annual Rally for all of FTE. The National Rally is first and foremost an event for all of FTE and its members, and is meant to honor us all.

I would like to take this time to ask each of you for your support as well as your attendance of this event. The Rally is for all of you and with your help it will be a huge success. I ask that all of you promote the event and encourage attendance of others in your area as well as helping us get the word out to all. We can use help in planning as well as on the day of the Rally so any that are willing to give their time in order to make this event a success then please contact me. It is the members who will make this Rally a huge success and ensure its continuation so let me say thanks now to all who may attend.

The Rally will take place on July 29th and 30th at the “Woodlands” in Kansas City, KS. There will be plenty of lodging available close by with group rates at certain ones. (These will be announced as we get the offers). We look forward to all in attendance and will be looking forward to a great time.

For a little more info and a map here are a few links.

Rollie, you know I'm in. I made my airfare/ car rental arrangements last night; just need the hotel and I'm all set. My plane lands late Thursday night, but I'll help any way I can on Friday and Saturday. And let me know about the "seminar" idea I mentioned to you in my PM.

Aw heck, only 1798 miles. Guess we'll have to just backtrack the Oregon Trail, is all.

Yup, as someone points out so nicely the Oregon Trail does run through Kansas.

Not a problem. We've sold every 2005 Mustang we were allocated for the entire year, and currently have NINE 2006 sold orders in the bullpen. Any 'stangs I order at this point are about a year from delivery. Go figure...

Now, if I can just talk Jerry (our Ford dealer) to let loose of that GT for a week, it'd be just perfect, wouldn't it? What are my chances?

Well, you could cover that 1798 miles in, oh, 10 hours or so? Less time on the road = more time at work, more productive!

No No No you can't get away with that. After all you have put us through I do believe a little hazing is in order.

Let me know when your flight is and we'll see if we can't rummage up some food.

Rollie, the Woodlands website shows RV parking and camping. Is this available to us?

Damn, my flight doesn't get in till after 10PM. Unless you're all up for a "Midnight Buffet.." KC: barbecue and Kansas City strips. I can't wait!

BTW, I'm reading good things about the Howard Johnson motel in Shawnee, and the Comfort Inn in Overland Park (clean rooms, friendly staff, reasonably priced). Are these too far from the race track to consider, or just a pain to get back and forth to? I can't seem to find the Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn that are supposed to be close by. Can any KC native give me the street addresses on those two?

I will make a couple of suggestions for KC food. First and foremost, go straight to Arthur Bryants, do not pass go, do not collect $200, etc. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Playboy magazine has rated Bryants as THE best BBQ in the past. Visit their website for information. I have an old high school friend that sends me care packages of Bryant's BBQ sauce a couple of times a year.

http://www.arthurbryantsbbq.com/

Now, another place to visit might be Teresa's Drive In, 6450 E. Truman Road. I don't know about now, but back in to good old days this was THE place to cruise in K.C. I just looked them up in the phone book, and it is still open. As for a cruisin' kind of place, we'll have to ask our friends currently living in K.C. for that info. They had pretty good food back then too. My last visit to Teresa's was in (cough cough) 1975..... Worth checking into though! An evening of cruising might be fun! Show K.C. what FTE is all about.

I would love to be there for this event, but I seriously doubt if I will make it. Struggling to keep my head above the proverbial waters of self employment!

Jeff,

Try this link for lodging. PM or e-mail me. I don't live in K.C. any more, but I am remotely familiar with the area. Best advice is to stay close to the track.

The Great Wolf Lodge is a really nice place, a bit $$$ though. It is located beside the Cabela's store, and not too far from the race track. This place even has in indoor water park!
