5.4 Hp ?

OK i have a '99 F-150 5.4 4X4 and i was wanting to get some more HP out of it, nothing to extreme but just enough for an extra snap. I was thinking of a cold air intake and a flowmaster exhaust set up. I was wondering what a turbo would do on a V8 like that, anybody know. Any suggestions are appreciated.

My wife has a 97' epedition and i put a 3" magna flow cat back system on, and it sounds good. personally i dont care for flow-
master due to the tinny hollow rappy noise it makes, the magna
has a nice low mean sounding rumble (my oppinion of course).
I also will be putting a cold air intake on it so let me know what
kind and how it looks,if i get one first ill get back with ya.

A turbo would definately give you the extra power you want.

How about a chip?
weight reduction is free HP, cut some randon holes in the body and frame. j/k BTW

You gotta be joking about cutting holes in your frame and body.
really the only time to do cutting or drilling is with an approved
application like a lift or something that has been engineered by
design, other than that your risking stress cracks or broken frames.
Turbo is i think is under extreme but would be cool.

Most gas motors that come from the factory come as about as moddified as your gonna gett'em without dumping major $$$. That is 1 of the advantages of a diesel. For about $1000 of mods you'd need to spend about 5000-6000 on a similiar gas motor to get an identical output.

What about the initial cost of a diesel vs. gas?

Double check that you have the PI heads on your engine. I think they were changed in 99-2000, but not sure. If you don't have the PI heads, that would be a possible upgrade. You could get lucky and find a complete lighting supercharger set up, but might not be a good idea if you have high milage on your truck already.
