Guys with 32x11.5s on stock 7.5 inch rims...

...and 92-96 Broncos (or F150 4x4s), where do the tires end up relative to the front wheel wells width-wise? Inside or outside of the widest part of the wheel well, and by how much in either case? I'm assuming that combination would put you just outside the wheel wells, but that's just a guess.

My Bronco is currently bone stock but I'm pretty well decided on doing a mild lift and going to the bigger tires. I've also got some fender flares I haven't installed yet (because they'd look ridiculous with my 235/75 tires!) and am thinking about some new wheels as well. I'm basically trying to figure out what backspacing would put the tires where I want them if I do decide to go with new wheels. Hope this makes some sense, once I know the answer to my question I think I can sort out the rest - thanks!

I put Michelin M&S 32x11.50 15's on the stock 7.5 aluminum wheels and I have plenty of clearance. Mine has no lift.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not asking about clearance issues per se. I'm wondering how far OUT tires this size on stock rims be - still inside the wheel well, outside the wheel well, and by how much in either case. My 235/75s on the stock 7.5 inch wide alloys are about 3/4 inch inside the wheel well at its widest point (at the top). I'm guessing that 32x11.5s on these stock rims would be about 1/4 inch outside the wheel well, but that's just a guess. I'm basically looking for someone to tell me if I'm in the ball park here - thanks.

I think my Ford wheels are 15x8", but I have 32x11.5 tires. Here's a link to some pics, if you're interested: Click here.

Mark, since the back spacing isn't changing, you will be looking at
a difference in overall width of 1-2 inches. The stock tire size has a section width of about 9.5-10.5 inches depending upon whether your stock tires were 235's or 265's. Since the tire will center on the rim, half of the additional section width will be on the front (outboard) side of the rim and half will be on the back (inboard) side of the rim. So, an 11.5 inch section width on a 7.5 inch wide rim will leave 1.5 inches of width beyond the rim width on both the front and back side if the rim.

11.5 - 7.5 = 3
3 / 2 = 1.5

Remember, section width is NOT the width of the tread on the tire but rather the widest part of the tire at the sidewalls when properly inflated. So by representation if you could cut a cross-section of the tire the measurement would be from
---> (__) <--- across this "section"
-tread^

The OEM rims have a backspacing of 4.5". Most aftermarket wheels will have about a 3.5" backspacing unless you custom order them with less or more. Running 33x12.50's on 4" of suspension lift, my Mickey Thompson Challengers have a 3.5" backspacing and the actual tread sits out from under the fender about 1". Rub is not an issue.

Even 31's rub on the sway bar at full lock. Any tire larger than stock rubs the sway bar at full lock, it seems. They must have barely missed rubbing when new.
