On our '97 F250HD and on the '82 Mercedes turbodiesel, I left them running while pouring B100 into a half-full tank. You could *clearly* hear when the biodiesel made it through the system up to the engine. The diesel "clatter" nearly disappeared! It's amazing how much quieter they run with a decent blend of biodiesel. Not sure if B2 or B5 would have that noticeable an impact, but it does boost the cetane rating pretty dramatically, so it just might quiet it down.

Yesterday we backed into a friends driveway and they didn't even know we was there. I had to knock on the door and they was really surprised how quiet the truck was because they didn't hear it.

the minimum cetane on B100 is 47, and the sulfur and ash seem way low, would this help the egr sooting problem? how much more than regular diesel is this stuff?

The mix I use (which is above) is running about 8 - 10 cents more than #2. Depending on soyoil futures etc. and your local tax base for biodiesel. And your question on soot. I have nearly none in the tailpipe. So I am assuming that this will be no problem for the egr and probably will help

tried to copy an article from a website but it is locked out for copy and paste. go to www.forddoctorsdts.com then go to articles. look at the fuels article and egr article. they didn't have anything on the injectors

I found on the ford fleet site under environmental - that there are technical questions they have using biodiesel over 5%. Questions like seals, metal fatugue, etc.

Found on John deere site that if you use over 5% that there might be a (what they call ) a coke problem with injectors.

If you sense more power, do you get improved mileage with the biodiesel? Would the mileage/performance improvements offset the increased cost?

almost 20% increase in mileage, plus cleaner engine/exhaust, for .8 to .10 more a gallon, doesn't sound too bad. sound like it's less in cost htan a bottle of fuel conditioner per tank. any idea on water absorption?

Wow. That's pretty quiet. I wouldn't be surprised if Bio Diesel were available to the masses in the future. By masses I mean the entire US/world.

Just got 5 gal of BioDiesel for $35 from Taylor Oil CO. INC base out of NJ but i got it from a guy here in Portland Ct. Will see how it works. Let see 29 gal tank (say 30 )and 5% of that would be 1.5 gal so will start with just 1 gal and that will be just about 3%.
The cetane level on the side of bucket said 52.7. and I get diesel at the truck stop that says min 40 cetane and 1 8oz one shot from Stanadyne.
Ok sound good will let you guy know how it works out later John

Do you have to do anything special to the truck to run Bio? And I am a rookie on Diesels, but by saying 3-5% do you mean of the total fuel (Bio diesel to fuel)?
