Ford V10 versus 02 Honda Accord.
I 've been wanting to race my wife in her 02 Honda Accord 4 banger V-tech but she is not into that so I took her car on my commute and compared it in two areas that I have used over the years to see if my trucks are staying the same or getting tired. Now an 02 Accord is not a hotrod but it is a fairly nifty little car. It will squeal the tires and it revs to 6200 real quick. I have had this little car for 3 years and it is no dog. I really thought it should eat my V10 but I was in for a pleasant surprize. On the back road I have used these power poles on a hill to compare my different vehicles. I hit the bottom power pole at 40 MPH and go WOT for two lengths. It is a fairly steep hill and my 04 PSD and my 05 V10 are real close on this test hitting 70 MPH in the two lengths. The Honda today was under 65 MPG on this test . I figure well a hill needs torque and the Honda lacks that. My second test area is a traffic light that is say 1/8 or so mile from a bridge. I have waited for the green light and gone wide open until I am on the bridge. I have done this test many times with all my trucks. and the V10 is the fastest but I believe if I was racing a good 6.0 PSD he would overtake and pass shortly after the bridge and everything I have read about 1/4 mile times show the 6.0 PSD as being faster than the V10. I am talking stock vehicles here. Anyway the V10 hits the bridge at about 68 MPH. My PSD was around 64 MPH and so is the little Accord around 65 MPH. So here we have a 7400 pound 4X4 pickup with 4.10 gears than can out accelerate a family sedan that is under half the weight. I personally think that is incredible. The smaller model V10s with 4.30s and 17 inch wheels must be quite a bit faster than mine. My two 7.3 PSDs both hit around 58 MPH on this little test of mine but I still liked those motors a lot.
Imagine what a Supercharged V10 woul feel like. take care, Wrench.

Now, figure out how much fuel each one used to accomplish the same thing. Come up with the real weights of both, and you might, surprisingly, find that for the extra amount of fuel, the weight more than makes up for it.
As in, the V10 is at least as efficient if not more so.
I don't mean the V10 won't use more fuel than the Honda, but divide by the weight of each, and you'll see how much fuel-per-pound was used... It would be interesting to say the least.
Figure in the aerodynamics (co-efficient of drag), and wow, it's amazing.
I think my point is we should all car-pool in a V10-powered crew cab instead of driving Honda's by ourselves

I will weigh the Honda first chance I get but the V10 is way more fun to drive and I don't own a boat anymore to now I have more gas money for the V10. Actually I sold my boat years ago when the salmon fishing went down hill around here. At that time I had calculated every salmon I caught was around 300 dollars an ounce. They must be real expensive now. Yeah I never was much of a fisherman but it sure was beautiful out on the old salt chuck. Actually , back on topic, I haven't done a mileage check on the Honda for a couple of years but it is no screaming hell if you hot rod it . I know I have got less than 22 MPG with that little Vtech if I want to drive the heck out of her so the V10 getting 10 when I drive her hard is not too shabby. I hate car pools and even though gas is 3.92 Can for a US gal . I will drive myself. If its my fate to die in a crash, I want to be holding on to the wheel when I go. Take care, Wrench.

Capt, that pic was a 2 valve motor.Look at the valve covers and exhaust manifolds.Whipple makes a nice SC setup for our engines along with Paxton, Vortech, and maybe some others. The trick is getting enough fuel w/bigger inj's and corresponding mass air sensor and a good computer tune. One day i will have a whipple.
