Junkyard near Miami ?

Hi all,

Just moved down here from NY and I'm looking for a decent junkyard. I want a cheapie set of wheels for my truck, plus some other odds and ends. I'm also going to be in central Florida to visit some family in a few weeks, so if anyone knows of something up there, that would also work. Thanks for the help.

Monty,

Next time you're there can you see if they have an engine for a 1996 Explorer. It's currently a 4.0L but a 5.0L was an option and I would really prefer that.

Do you know a good Ford mechanic in your area? I'm in Davie but grew up in Miami/Coral Gables.

if you want the 5.0 go for it sell then 4.0 for parts you'll get more money that way for the engine

There is a couple of Junk yards on that road. If ya go to the end where the pavement turns to the left, the junkyard on your left has alotta engines around. I have a 302 sitting on an engine stand ready to be re-built. I think the V-8 in the explorer is the same as the F-150, I think???
Hey Monty, how's things?
Al

Actually, this isn't something I want to tackle myself. I don't have the time nor the knowledge.

I'm looking for recommendations and a place that can do the work.

There are no shops I know of that will do it. Thats a specialty type thing. It's gonna cost ya if somebody does it. Get the bargain trader mag. and there is a Mustang/Ford shop in Pompano, give them a call.

Monty, There are so many aftermarket on-board air systems on the market that it would probably be easier, UNLESS you plan on using an old A/C compresor for air supply. As far as the air tank goes, we could use an old refrigerant bottle, but the Florida D.O.T. would not like that would they?? If you get an Off-Road mag, thay have add's for them. Ever since Air bags for lift, the systems seem to be a dime a dozen, well maybe a couple cents more.

Monty,

Is that the Advance before or after the Autozone ? I was in the Adavance closest to 27th and US 1 the other day and someone pulled some codes for me. I wish I would have stopped at your place first, the Advance further down on US 1 (@37th ?) refused to pull codes, as did the Autozone on SW 27th.
