Tow Command for 2005 F250
Hello... I have an 2005 F 250 Standard Cab and it came without the tow command system and the built in brake controller. I took the plastic pocket out that came in place of the brake controller and upfitter switches. I noticed that there are two wiring harnesses clipped to the back of the pocket.
Can I buy the factory brake controller and hook it up to one of those wiring harnesses? If not, what is the process to upfit a factory brake controller to a truck that didn't come with one from the factory? The upfitter switches would be nice as well. .... Thanks!
Chris

I believe you can purchase but, I don't think added after the fact if the tow command controller will interact with the anti-lock brake system as the factory install does. Definately look into it for your own piece of mind, for now the kit may allow the interaction with the anti locks. Let us know what you find out, so we may help others in the future.

the upfitter and ITBC can both be added in. The switches are easy and fairly inexpensive... a search here will turn up the two part numbers...
Adding in the ITBC is a little more complicated.
You can get all the parts and DIY but then you need a Dealer to reflash the computer to make them all talk.
The deal is that your stock truck needs a new brake master cylinder that has a second sensor port (truck is already wired). Then you need the Ford Integrated Trailer Brake Controller itself. Once you have it all hooked up it will work but to get it tied into the master information center the computer needs to be told the stuff is there.
There are threads on this down in the tow haul forums and same over at the diesel site. Lots of good info... I got mine truck with it from the factory so I don't need to keep the numbers.

I just called my dealer and asked the parts department to run the above part number to find out how much the package cost and of course they told me that the part number doesn't exist. Has anyone verified this number with a dealer and if so, where are they located and if you have a phone number that would be great!
