Smile Some ideas and thoughts.....

Hey all, I did a post on this in towing, trailers and fifth wheels, but would like some thoughts from fellow friends and ALASKANS ..... What type of trailer brake controller do you use or recommend and what type of fith wheel hitch do you use, or recommend. My truck is already equipped with a towing package, but would just like some thoughts given our extremes up here. I don't own a 5'er yet, but you never know. I may also pull a goose neck and other stuff. Any thoughts, ideas suggestions, pics, ect would be great. Oh, yea also places to purchase and install. I once had a '00 F550 with the 7.3 that I used for hotshotting and had a Fontain No-Slack fifth wheel, but it was monsterous (having come off a tractor-truck, but at $100 it was a real buy) I have a '04 SC LWB 4x4 with the Powerstroke and torque shiFt tranny. Thanks again. -Chris S.

I have a Reese 15K Trail Boss hitch. For the most part I like it. The only thing I don't like is it only pivots 2 ways. If your on uneven ground it can be a pain to unhitch. It can be removed from ther bed pretty easy and I know there are adapters you can get for gooseneck ***** also.
The tekonsha Prodigy brake controller is the cream of the crop in brake controller. I highly recommend it.
I pull a 9000#(dry) 11000#(loaded) 32' 5th wheel all over the state in the summer and the setup I have has worked very well for me.

Go to etrailer.com. They have pretty good prices. I had a drawtite 5500 but I fried it by backing into a snow bank. I now have a NAPA "Valley" model since that was the only thing available that day. SO far it works fine but I will upgrage to a Prodigy "Electric" model down the road.

Sorry but no 5th'er here just a travel trailer.
