Why no 256?

I bought a reproduction manual for a 55 Ford pickup. It lists the 256 cubic inch V8 as an option. I'm assuming this is a y-block v8 and I'm wondering why it's not listed in the title for the y-block forum. Am I wrong in believeing this is a y-block?

That question has been asked several times; an earlier version of the forum left off the 368. An why is there no 279, 302, 332? After all THOSE are true truck engines.

The 256 came out in the 54 Merc. It was an option in the F600 in 55 and early 56. Change the crank and you have a 272. Then bore it and you have a 292.
Lots of interchangability in the Y block
