I've gotta 250 7.3 Diesel that wont start. dont know a whole lot about them but it sounds like its a fuel problem. itll crank but never seems to have enough juice to fire up. i replaced the fuel filter and checked to make sure fuel was going through the pump and all seems good. if anyone has any suggestions on what to check its needed, gotta get the truck runnin for work.

Did you fill the filter with clean fuel before installing........ is there power at all the connections on the injection pump. Does the engine crankover extremely fast...faster than you can count revolutions......it must. Charge the batteries and plug in the block heater this will help.......do not use ether. How long is the (WTS) wait to start light on, you are attempting the start when the light goes out........do not wait for GP the controller to stop clicking.

Do pressure and flow test on the fuel at the Schrader valve on the filter(FSS- fuel shutoff switch disconnected). Remove the tire valve core and hook a hose and pressure guage on it should see 4-6 psi when cranking. Then do a fuel quantity test same place, should see 1/3 pint in 10 seconds of engine cranking, route fuel to a suitable container with a hose.

If there is a problem with the lift pump and you are changing it, ensure the new pump comes with instructions as to correct installation proceedure if it is the newer model pump with the almost straight arm.
