Anybody live in Portland, Maine?

We are considering relocating from Montana to Maine for my wife's job. Any body live there? Any information prospective residents should know? Cost of housing? Are you taxed to death? Schools? Anyplace to run a 22' Jetboat?

Thanks

don't like in Portland but travel there often. Girlfriends parents live there.

All I can say for housing is a decent house in the Portland area(and most of New England within 30minutes of a city) will run about $250,000+. Housing here is rediculous. Decent Condos start about about $120,000. As for taxes I'm not sure. In NH I'm paying about $2000 a year for my about 700 sq/ft condo.

Portland is a nice area tho.

I spent a few weekend in portland during the summer near the waterfront and pubs my plan was to have a beer in each of the pubs but either I'm slowing down or their are too many bars good working class people there but the state and city are now run by the politically correct snobs at times they compare portland as the sister city to boston 20 miles out of the city you can be in the woods or the real world good luck on your move
