I don't have an upper limit. I will continue to drive and buy the types of vehicles I like regardless of gas price. I will change a few habits like planing trips to the store, car pooling etc but that is about it.

Gas prices are about 10x higher today than when I first started driving. In that same time my pay as risen at least 20x. IMO we are getting a very good deal still.

Also I don't think gas will be able to sustain this price mark for very long. I know in my neck of the woods the biggest reason for the price hike as been supply. With oil priced where its at I think everyone who can pump will and I expect supply will increase and prices drop again. Of course this is only my opinion.

I just did a quick calculation. On a 12 mile stretch of road that I drive to work every day there are 9 Dunkin' Donut coffee shops. Thats one shop every 1.5 miles. The people don't appear to be complaining to pay what calculates out to be $18.00 per gallon for their coffee.

If a persons drinks 30 gallons of coffee in a week that’s $18.00 gallon x $30.00 gallons=$540.00 I’m sure he/she would complain. I think Americans can become self-sufficient in energy and stop making Middle East countries rich with the American dollar . I will do my part and purchase an economy/hybrid vehicle for a daily driver.

no matter how high gas prices get you are going to pay them. whether you drive a f350 with a v-10 or a moped you are still going to have to pay for it. i also am with tymers, gas was supposed to be this price years ago. the reason for pay raises is to compensate for the rising cost of living such as this.

If we quit buying any fuel from the oil companies that import oil I bet you'd see the price come down in a hurry. The whole "oil shortage" is artifical anyway, it's all about maximizing profit which ANY of the large corporations are guilty of.

I am not against a company making a profit but not by artifical means and not at the levels these huge conglomerates love to operate at.

This was taken from a google search!!

The giant oil companies just announced record profits for 2004. Exxon Mobil, the biggest oil company in the world, had after-tax profits of 26 billion dollars last year on its ongoing operations, up 52 per cent from 2003. ChevronTexaco had 13 billion dollars in profits, up 85 per cent from a year ago. And Shell Oil had profits of 19 billion dollars, up 48 per cent from 2003.
That $2 per gallon of gas and those $400 a month heating bills? Right from our pockets to theirs!

"Blame the evil corporations" is an easy rant, but what do you propose, a government solution? In more regulated socialist countries, as in Europe, people pay much more than we do here becaue of higher taxes.

China and India are greatly increasing the amount of oil they use, that is really why crude oil prices have been on a steady climb for the past few years. Get used to it or change your driving/vehicle choice habits. As much as many here at FTE may like them, 10 mpg or less monster trucks are dinosours.

Gas is more than 10X the price it was when I started driving. I used to take a date up the coast 100 miles just for dinner. Those habits changed in 1974 when gas topped fifty cents.

The price of gas Fallon Nevada jumped $.30 yesterday we are now paying $2.65 per gallon. Having served overseas and been to Japan and other places where they are paying $3-5 a leiter. I really don't think we have it that bad anymore.

I would love to pay less but I do not plan on changing how I drive

Even though I still blame the evil corporations somewhat (come on, its fun), yeah, your definiatly right about China and India. Even if we do conserve oil and prices fall, they'll probably gobble up the excess.

Cool

about a month ago it was 1.89. now its around 2.50. makes me wanna steal gas. i thinking about taking off my plates, filling up both tanks, and hauling a** outta there. i cant imagine how much it would cost to fill up two 19 gallon tanks. a little under 100 bucks.

im not sure if 92 octane was 2.50 a gallon or 87 was.

We started riding together several months ago and started saving about $80/month in gas.

Say what you want about the oil/gas companies, they are a bunch of greedy crooks. If it was all about supply and demand the cost of fuel would only change once a week when the truck comes to fill the tanks. It doesn't work that way. The price of fuel that is already bought and paid for can go up every day, but it will never go down until the truck comes again.

There is no excess, and it is unlikely that we will ever see oil below $40. (barrel) again. We have been spoiled for years by cheap energy and have developed a thirst that even higher prices will not quench entirely (as evidenced by some of the preceding posts). The oil companies are making profits because they saw what was apparent to any one that looked .... demand is rising, and will continue to rise, faster than production. We (the U.S.) are 5% of the world's population and we consume 26% of the oil, not a bad thing. But we consume three times more than we produce, not a good thing. The world uses 84 million barrels of oil a day today and by 2030 (just 25 years) it is estimated to be 130 barrels. There are many practical ways we can conserve energy, but there are inconveniences involved so it will take some pain in the wallet before they take place.
