Ok to install circuit breaker between alternator and battery?

I recently upgraded my G2 to a 200amp G3 alternator. Right now I have it going through the stock fusible link wires, but I want to put in a breaker with 200amp capacity bewteen the alternator and the connection on the solenoid. Will a manual reset breaker be ok or should I look to 200 amp ANL type fuses? Thanks for the input

A circuit breaker will work fine, much better than a fuse or fuseable link really. Most aircraft use breakers instead of fuses. Auto mfgs use fuses because they're cheaper.....

Be sure and use the correct amperage breaker.

ok...so you install the breaker. What are you going to do when your driving and somethin trips the breaker off. You car will stay running for a bit till the battery drained out. How are you gonna prevent that??

Well...i suppose that it would be no different then if it burnt through a fuse except i would not have to carry a spare fuse, but...I was thinking of installing a relay across the breaker that would turn on a LED in the cabin should the breaker ever trip.

Every 3G swap I have read about suggested using a 175 amp to 200 amp fuse (assuming a 130 amp alternator). When I did my swap I used the 175amp megafuse. For the 200 AMP 3G I would suggest an even larger megafuse. 225?? perhaps
