Diesel Prices

Okay, last fall when diesel went up, I read with great interest the explanation that the high prices were due to the shift to heating oil and that diesel prices should go down in the spring. Well, it is now spring and the prices here in Colorado are still higher than premium gas. What is going on????

Diesel here in SC is now around the same price as regular. There is one station I filled up at yesterday that was 1 cent cheaper than unleaded. Other stations are pretty close. Diesel is anywhere from $2.13 (that's the price I filled up with last night) up to $2.20. Regular unleaded is $2.14 to $2.19.

BTW, it's only getting worse. Crude is now at $58 a barrel. All this on the "speculation that US refiners will be unable to produce enough gasoline supplies to meet peak demand this summer". Yeah, I wish I could raise my prices on nothing more than "speculation".

I buy fuel at a T and A truck stop, this week it's at $2.27 in Oregon. Most other places are at $2.59.

BTW I talked to a truck driver that hauls fuel to the stations, he said one reason why diesel costs more then heating fuel is because the tanker trucks, by law, need to be double walled between the different fuels when transporting diesel. If diesel and gas are put in a tank with only one wall they can create a static charge that of course could explode. Most heating fuel trucks only carry heating fuel.

Well a couple weeks ago here in western mass it was $2.25. In the last week or so its jumped up to $2.50 as of today. Biodiesel is $2.60 I believe. Once its cheaper (which I assume will be pretty soon) ill switch over to biodiesel.

I saw the same prices today as well. I'm looking real hard into making my own biodiesel.. I've got the beans already, prices for them are way down. Funny how farmers/truckers/etc are the ones that run this country and are the ones that get screwed over the most.

$2.54 here in MA. Everybody says fuel prices are going down eventually, but I think that's a bunch of crap. The world is going to hell in a handbasket. I doubt we'll ever see fuel prices go down another 30 cents. Well, at least here in Taxachusetts.

2.399 Here in E Texas.
Fuel prices are way out of control, thats for sure. When Clinton was in office and the arabs were playing their games with oil, he released some barrels out of our reserve and the prices took a big drop. Wish Bush would do the same thing. I cant believe the truckers havent done something, this has to be killing them.
