56 spare parts

I got a spare hood with my 56 m100 that the previous owner had been restoring until he noticed that the front was dimentionally the same as the m100, but the back of the hood is about 3 inches wider. Anyone know what this would be off of? It is in pretty good condition except for a hole cut in for a scoop in the back by the windshield. Also are used 56 gas tanks that are in great shape in any demand out there or are most people tossing theirs in favour of exterior tanks?

The hood might be from a F-750 Big Job truck. There was a factory air scoop setup for them. Here's an old thread on the scoop

Does this mean that the 100, 250, and 350's all have the same hoods in 56?

mymerc,
I'm not sure about the 350, but I have a hood from a 55 F-250 on my 56 F-100. I think that the F-100 through F-350 are the same. I don't think there is a difference until you get to the "big job" trucks.
Some one here will set me straight and enlighten us all!
Good Luck!

All the non-COE hoods from the F-100 through the F-700 were the same from 1953 through 1956.
