Overheating problem with ’93 Lightning
I’m trying to find the capacity of the radiator and cooling system w/o draining everything. But I don’t know if I have “Auto Transmission With Air Conditioning” or “Auto Transmission With Super Cool or Super Cool and Air Conditioning.” Could somebody let me know?

As far as engine coolant, I looked at Wal-Mart for something with the given Ford spec of ESE-M97B44-A and found nothing. What brand do you guys recommend for performance and price? I live in Houston, so it’s freezing only 3-5 days per year and very rarely under 25 degrees. 40% coolant and 60% H2O?

Finally, the radiator cap says 13 lbs of pressure. Is that the correct cap? I’m not the original owner, and am not certain.

Thanks for helping me learn about my truck. I used to get very pissed about these mechanical problems, but now I’m actually starting to like learning about what goes on under the hood.

The first part is a little unclear. You have an E4OD auto tranny and an air to air trans cooler that is mounted in front of the radiator.
I don't know what the exact capacity is on the radiator; I just fill it until it is full and use regular Prestone (green) anti-freeze, and mix it 50/50 with water.
The radiator cap is correct.
