Wheels on 1999 Ranger

Hey Folks,
Its been some time since I've even commented on any threads here on this site, but it's nice to see that everything is how I remember it. I'm looking at buying my Dad's 1999 Ranger supercab and I've considered putting new wheels on it. I don't like the looks of any of the "Pimped out" or "Trick" rims that you see on H2's and Escalades in all these hip hop videos and I'm also not looking for 4wd wheels either. I've thought about a nice set of Harley Davidsons from the effie or Lightning wheels. I've seen both on Rangers and both look sharp. I've also thought about some of the older designs of aftermarket wheels such as Keystone Klassics or Turbine slot mags. If anyone has any suggestions or advice, throw down!

My preference is American Racing Wheels. Check out their web site for displays of available wheels for RWD 15x7 wheels with 5 lug and 4.5" spacing and something around 0 offset or backspacing equal to half the wheel width.

I was looking for a set of rims for my Ranger and I liked this rim alot. It reminds me of the alcoa rims off the FX4 Rangers. I think this would be a nice rim for what you are looking for.

---grease monkey, those are the rims i have on my 02 xlt, the AR baja's, i got 15 x 8 with 235 75 15 tires. They look bad and i got the from a local tire store brand new for $420 including dismount and re mount of my tires, and chrome lug nuts and all that. The only draw back is that you have to polish them at least every 2 weeks or everytime you wash your truck or they start coroding. But it's worth it.
---kontai69, those look just as good as mine do, those wilderness ht's have to go though. i couldn't wait to wear them out when i bought my truck, they were noisy, they always squeeled around corners and got **** poor traction. You'll see what i mean if you get a good set of all terrains.

I always thought the five star Cobra Mustang wheels in 17"x 8" looked sweet on Rangers. My second choice would be a set of 93-96 Explorer limited wheels kinda look like wire wheels in a sense.

I've got a set of American Racing Tailgunner Series Wheels on my truck. They look really good IMHO. I think they are worth checking out.

Thanks for the input guys, I'm starting to really like those Baja's but theres a few others that are starting to grow on me too. So much for this making the decision easier!

Sean, have you considered any of the later model wheels Ford offered on the Rangers or Explorers?

Sometimes you can get some prices on tire and wheel package deals that were recent take-offs.

If the new wheels require another type of lug nut, remember to keep a set of the stock ones handy incase you need to do a tire change and use the stock spare tire.

Keep us posted!
