towing question

I need to hook a trailer up to my 04 screw. What all do I need? I have the tow package. Also the car im towinig weights about 2900lbs. Would prefer to go cheap as this might be the only time in the forseeable future that it will be used.

Get the right size ball for the trailer. You shouldn't need a trailer brake for that weight. Hook it up and go.

How are you towing this car, with a trailer, flat tow or on a dolly.

Even a basic open trailer will weigh around a thousand pounds. The car trailers that U-Haul rents are even more so your total weight could be in the 4,000+ range so you would want to have brakes on that trailer. The U-Hauls typically have surge brakes on them so no need for an electric brake controller.

Whatever you do, be safe first.

You also need the electrical adapter to go from the Ford plug at the hitch (round) to the straight pin connector at the trailer. You can get these at the auto parts store.

The tow package has connections for both the 7 pin and 4 pin flat connector (at least mine does)..

I agree, but if you need to use backup solenoid for disc brakes you need the 7 pin.

I'd also say go to U-Haul and they can hook you up with what you need for a one time pull. Even the right ball etc... Probably the safest and potentially cheapest approach for ya.
