Smile new bed

Yesterday the new bed project was completed. (photos in gallery)

The old bed was in fair shape but the rails had rusted awhile ago and the boards had the water logged look. Although I like the varnished boards, I did have something different in mind.

These boards were oak and in good shape so I repaired, sanded, and primered them then painted with an acrylic, low gloss outdoor paint. The hardware is stainless, although not polished.

The usual refit issues resulted in some scratches but they were easily touched up.

Doug - VERY nice! The black wood and especially the black center of the strips is really unique. It may be more resistant to weathering also. Congrats.

Your bed looks great, I was thinking about using bedliner finish on my bed wood. I tossed a coin and went with the clear finish.

Thanks for the feedback...I'm real happy with it. I guess tomorrow I'll go haul some wood or somethin'!...maybe take a trip to the land fill?
