I got a nuther '57 Effie...

These things are addicting!

My first '57 needed so much dang work... and I'm just finishing up a '65 for a guy and didn't want to start head -on into another PROJECT... so I picked this one up... nice original condition.

Anywho, I'm keeping a few parts from my first F-100 and parting out the rest... (the thing is in the classifieds) Kind of sad, but these things are worth more in parts than they are whole... but on the other side, parting one out will help others make their trucks nicer... the cab was soo rusty, but the rest was nice... I'm kind of torn about the whole deal.

Anyway, here is the new-old girl!

I have a question... are the back windows flat glass... or slightly curved? (small window) This truck had a camper shell on it for the past 30 years... 'kept the bed in PERFECT condition though! The wheels well aren't even dinged!

Wow - that looks nice for a 57 - don't see many "un-restored" or "un-hotrodded" trucks like this one anymore

I agree, that's a nice truck. It's unusual to see one that's not all cobbled up or beat to death!

For now (the first few months) I'll spare the old girl from the Cad motor and Chevy front suspension... hahaha... I will, really.

It has a 6 gun and a 3 speed... sounds like a diesel... glrg-glrg-glrg-glrg... The guy even spared the dash when he installed the radio by just hanging it under the dash! So, it has an un-cut dash without a hole in it for a radio!

I got to tell you guys... the picture I have of it there is of it after two days of cleaning! It came with a camper shell on it and about 20 pounds of moss! I washed it with soap, water... and a 3M scrubby pad! It took all the white oxidation off... and now it needs a coat of wax after a rub-down... I'm getting all hot and bothered thinking about it! (cleaning it up, not a rub down!)...

Stay tuned!

Sam.

I'll be able to sleep knowing that you only cut a 6banger up.... Did I mention the 223's really move and dropped straight axle's go in real easy? Post the vin plate info in the post that says "attention 57-60 owners" and get a few more pic s up and we'll let you off the hook. -4speed

Hey dude! 4speed beat me to it - post your VIN plate info and let me have your city/state and first/last name. Check out my '57 - '60 Registry to see what I'm up to. Here's what I need:

F10J0K34738
118 X F100 04C A 01
5000 126 4000

That's it! Great picture, BTW! Cutie little Custom Cab!

Will do.

I just replaced the master cylinder ($38 from Kragen) and drove it for the first time... she drives like a logging truck!

The 57 - 60 trucks are refigerators or fridges. No curves or anything sexy like the 53 - 56 which are called Effies.

Thumbs up I got another 57' Effie...

Hey Madfabber,
I'm generally not a fan of the late 50's effies, but man that is one fine lookin' unrestored beauty you got there. That truck convinces me that I may be wrong in not appreciateing that vintage era. I have a couple F1s and a 53 F100. I wouldn't do anything other than clean it and drive it....

Hey Madfabber.

Are you getting rid of the engine? If so, how's the carburetor? Would you be willing to part with it for a price? How about the distributor?

If you intend to swap the engine and won't be selling the 223 complete, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know.

P.S. I couldn't find your truck for sale in the classifieds. Would that truck happen to have the 223? If so, I'd be willing to buy parts from that if you're willing to sell.
