Try 'em, you might just like them. I just installed a cherry bomb turbo on my old man's Dodge Van (5.9, no cat, 2.5 in/out) I never thought I would say that I actually liked the sound of a turbo muffler, especially a cherry bomb and especially on a single exaust system. Kinda sounds like a 40" glasspack.
The closer a restriction is to the engine, the more pronounced it is. You might have a pipe put in the cat's place and the glasspack put back under the bed. There is also a possible resonance issue. I have a nasty mild resonance between 53 and 59 miles per hour. 60 and up it goes away.
What's your redline on the truck green? I thought it was 5k. I've bounced off the redline a few times...my mistake .
Yea the plan is to run the pipes until under the bed, then put the packs, then for kicks and giggles, I'm gonna do a side-exit before tire...both pipes on the same side...I want to keep it "lightning-style".
I don't care about the resonance, I've ran just pipe right under the cab, so I've heard things. Even if the drone is annoying, I'll just turn the radio up to 50 and bye-bye resonance.
lol, i feel that way too fordfan...I actually got it up to 4500 today in 1st and then I was like..."ahh Forget this!" It was ROARING. My glasspack barely pops...which is good.
Well, no shops will remove the cat, so I guess I have to chop it off. Probably not until next week.
Mine's almost to 80,000 in my 94, so its still *relatively* young. Just today after it'd been parked for the weekend I got her right up to Redline...my girlfriend and her friend both really liked it .
just cut the cats off, clamp on a piece of pipe in place of them..and then take it to a shop, im sure theyll do your system if the cats are already off
I don't know about tennessee, but I know for a fact that the sure won't in Iowa! They will turn you away in a split second if you have replaced your cats with a pipe. I tried it.
