Stock trailer hitch on 2000 F250 SD

Does anyone know what the stamped rating on a factory installed trailer hitch reads on these vehicles? My tow rig is a 2000 F250 crew cab sd.

I'm looking to rent a U-Haul trailer to haul a '55 ford F250 this weekend.

U-hauls says the trailer hitch must be stamped with a 5500 lbs or higher rating or they won't rent me the trailer for safety reasons. I don't have my truck with me and I need to reserve the trailer.

Thanks! Mike.

Thank you!

What is the difference between "Weight distributing @ 10,000 lbs" and "weight carrying @ 5,000 lbs"?

weight distributing is when used with a weight distributing hitch. it is bigger and has additional supports that run from the hitch to the trailer. weight carring is with a standard trailer hook up
click on this link to see what one looks like;http://www.mrtruck.net/wdh.htm

It's certainly not more than a Class III but you won't find a stamp. Ford's been playing games with those factory hitches. I pulled my '99s, '01's and '05's because of it and replaced with properly rated, stamped after-market hitches.

I don't understand ford's thinking behind the ratings. Mine says 500 tongue and 5000 weight, 1250/12500 with weight distribution. Weight distribution just changes the weight on the tongue not the weight of the trailer. So what is the difference if you have a trailer that is 7000 lbs and tongue of 300lb or a tongue of 700lbs with a W.D. hitch? You are still pulling 7000lbs either way right? Does that mean if I want to pull that weight and the tongue is only 300 then I need to install a W.D. hitch to be legal. I thought these were used mainly to level out the vehicle when pulling a heavy tongue. Can anyone help me understand?
