I've been looking all morning for this as when you make it because of the compound curves it is difficult to form. The results were less than perfect . . . at least with my metal forming skills. Mac used to sell this patch but it is not in their on-line catalog any more although there is a picture when you do a Google search.

Mac's Auto Parts fuel filler patch

But LMC Truck does sell it for 48-52s and 53-56s. Part number 49-3500 at the bottom left of page 35.

I have a similar gas filler. The previous owner already put a hole in the fender or I would have put it higher.

I did basically the same thing. It didn't take long to cut a patch, bend it over my knee plus a little persuading with the body hammer on my work bench. I welded it in. It took a very little skim of bondo and it was ready to go.

It is a compound curve. I did that before on my old cab and it was OK but not perfect. Maybe you guys have better skills. I just want it right.

If you want to leave a dummy fill in the body to avoid having to patch the hole, and are worried about someone putting something in there, get a decent looking cap and epoxy it on the filler.

Later!

A couple of you have asked about this, and since I've done this mod both ways on two cabs now here is what I found. LMC sells the patch panel but with a deadblow hammer and a lead shot bag or even a large ball peen hammer on vice jaws you can make your own. The LMC panel leaves a nicer finish on the inside but as most of us cover it up with a trim panel it probably does not matter.
