Which factory cd player will fit?

I have a 2000 F 150 2 wd, regular cab, 5 sp. manual with a factory installed am/fm radio. I want to buy (probably from eBay) a Ford oem cd player. A lot of them look good and say they fit 98-03 F series trucks. My question is - Are they all as interchangeable as they say?

Thanks a lot.

I think you are safe on all OEM products for the years you mentioned. The dash changed with the new generation in 2004, although the 2004 Heritage was a carry over of the old body style.

Well, I went to replace the cassette unit in my 02 F-150 XL. A friend on here was going to give me the changer head unit that was factory in his 03 screw. It worked electrically, but wouldn't fit in, and here's why.

Note how the last diagram is showing a square stereo, There is a bracket in the dash that hits it. You need to find a unit that is angled at the back like the first diagram shows. I believe the single disk units will work. but not that changer. Ugh! It even worked electrically.

Dadgumit!!!!! It keeps changing this drawing as soon as I post. I hope you get the idea.

Why OEM I would look for a aftermarket one they are cheaper well maybe not than on eBay as used factory HU's don't seem worth much and they are a lot better in the terms of features and SQ.

I can speak for myself on this one. I have contemplated geting an alpine reciever for my 99 f-150 and the thing that kept me from it is the way they look. I personaly think that the OEM HU's look alot better. Although they do not preform as well, they look a whole lot cleaner and i like the dimming feature.
That is just my opinion.
