I bought a 2004 F250XLT SD FX4 in January of 04 and am now thinking aboiut adding a 4-5" Lift, with Tires and Rims. This is my first 4x4 Truck and I was wondering if you guys could suggest the right combonation and a shop to install them.

well, fabteck is good lift company. as for tires and rims, i wouldnt buy anything more than a 17 inch rim, maybe 10 inches wide. I would love to have some procomp xterrain tires, they are real good.

Well, mike5.4 owna dna runs a shop that sells and installs lifts/tires/and the such.

I'm sure he can't be that hard to hunt down around here.

Head over to the super duty forum and do a search over there. TONS of talk about what lifts everyone recommends and tires and what not. Honestly, go as tall as you can stand/afford with the lift. The novelty of getting a lift wears off after a while so the higher you go up front, the less money you'll spend down the road. I have a 6.5" lift on mine and for the lift of me wish I had just done it right the first time and put a 10.5" with 40's on my truck. Oh well, someday..

But for the love of god, stay away from pro comp. If you need proof, let me know and we can trade trucks for a day. haa haa. Just try not to spill your coffee!!

 

Easy Pro-Comp hater. The leafs in Pro-Comps are beefier then stock and its about the only kit that offers that. All the other kits just have more of an arch. That's not to say the other kits aren't any good, Im solely talking about the leaf springs.

ShawnZ, I am hard to hunt down on here anymore. I only have just enough time on here to read posts, then I've got something I have to do before I can respond. Remember that 69 Vette I had in the shop? I finally delivered that today, you should have seen how that turned out.. amazing.

Mattox, if you want to set your truck apart from the others you can easily accomplish that with your choice of wheels and tires. I believe with the brakes you have on your truck you cant use certain 16in wheels if any. Id go with a set of chrome 18in Weld or Helo wheels with Toyo Open Country tires. Welds would be the best but they are kinda pricey. Toyos are also slightly higher in price then the comparable Nitto's, but you make up the price in the mileage in the tires.

 

You've ridden in my truck, you know that lift sucks. Shawn Z knows how bad that thing rides too, remember that trail run we did? We were both hurtin' from that rocky trail by the time we hit cave creek road. ha ha. Thick springs = stiff ride. I'd rather have more thinner springs in a leaf pack than having a few thick leafs.
