Body Style
Good day all. I traded in my F-250 PSD for a nice 2004 F-150 FX4 last week. Nice to buy gas instead of deisel right now! I have kind of a silly question. I got the standard cab (with 2 small back doors) and what I think is called a stepside or flareside. The bed is 6 1/2' long and about 52" wide and a little deeper than my F-250 was. The question is what is this body style called. I have heard name of a meriad of different body styles for these new trucks. Just wondered what the "official" name of the body style of mine is for when I order things on the internet or through a catalog.
Thanks, Glenn

That distinctive style bed is a Flareside...a fine choice! (See my sig!)
(Chebby refers to it as a Stepside)
The other bed is the Styleside (aka Fleetside). Your cab is the Reg Cab (RC), other cab configs are SuperCab (Scab) and SuperCrew (Screw, w/ 5.5' bed and 4 full doors).
Congrats on a fine purchase. Good luck, and get your gallery loaded w/ pics!

I've had my F150 standard cab since October and I've really enjoyed it. The really handy accessory I added is the cargo organizer that fits behind the seat. It keeps the groceries, luggage and other items you carry behind the seat in place. I did not use the installation kit provided because it entailed drilling large holes and cutting holes in the carpet. I simply got 4 large self tapping screws and put it in. That way, if I decide to remove it later, it will not show.

Oh, and it's often called 'the new body, or new body style" in most catalogs.
That just refers to the 2004-2005 New Body Style F-150's as differed from the Heritage, 2004 F-150 that shares it's lineage with the 1997-2003.
Silly to mention it, but on another forum, folks have beefed about getting Heritage parts, also correctly listed as 2004 F-150 parts.
Best of luck with your new truck

Yes. The '04 and '05 models have deeper beds. I have a supercrew. I also have a question. You said that there were little doors in the back of your truck. Do they open backwards and have seats? If so it would be a supercab. The name is flareside. It's to bad you can't get a 6.5' bed with a supercrew.

Well, the back doors do open backwards...no seats though. I found I never used the back seats in my F-250 so, when I saw this one and it still had some room back there for storage I decided I did not need back seats. Really like the truck though. The only thing behind the seats is the (I guess) subwoofer/amplifier box for the audiophile system.
