53 truck ?
Hello, I am new to the board.
I just bought a 53 ford f100. When I got it home and started looking it over I discovered that the horn button says (Ford 50th anniversary 1903-1953) on it.
Is this something that was put on all trucks or did I come accross a limited edition?
Thanks

well Barry, you were going to say what i was....ive had a couple 53's that must have been changed around or something, because they didnt have the anniversary horn button in them...i think there was supposed to be a fancy hood emblem on some of them too...dont mark my words on that, though

Welcome, step. I think you have one of those 50th anniversary jobs... one of 116,437 (according to Midfifties catalog). I don't know if each of them had the special anniversary horn button but Midfifties sugguests that these items are becoming scarce and pricy in the original. You can buy a reproduction part, however. Glad to have you aboard.

Welcome, and yes, that is a special truck. Especially if the anniversary horn button is original and not a reproduction.
I was looking at some old photos and found this one of the 1953 Chicago Auto Show. This is the Ford Truck Display Area according to the text with the image. Guess they used to put the trucks in the parking garage, eh?

53 Ford?
Fellas,
I have a 53 also and mine has the 50th Anniversary of FoMoCO horn button on it also. Mine was built at the Chester, Pa. Plant. I bought it in Scranton, so I think it's been a Pa. truck it's entire life.
On a different note, I bought a basket case 49 Panel Truck two years ago and it had the Ford Truck Logo on the horn button which is incorrect as this did not come out until 1953.
