input shaft bearing m5od

Hi; I am kind of going through the m5od transmission while it is still out before I put it in my truck. Has anyone ever replaced the input shaft bearing?If you have, how does the plastic oil scoop ring come off? I tried pulling it off but it just didn't seem to want to come off easily.Also,how did you get the bearing off the shaft?Once I get the oil scoop off I was going to take a punch and very carefully tap it off from the inside of the transmission. Did a 5 speed from a Dodge Daytona that way,and it worked very well.Had more room in the Dodge transmission though.Thanks for your help;
Jack

There is nothing in the shop manual on removing the plastic scoop ring but it says to Install plastic scoop ring onto input shaft. Manually rotate ring clockwise to ensure that input shaft oil holes properly engage scoop ring. A click should be heard as scoop ring notches align with input shaft oil holes. Sound like it you need to twist it out. They also say that bearing is pressed on.Press tapered roller bearing from input shaft using Bearing Cone Remover T71P-4621-B or equivalent and arbor press.
