NO MO Motorcraft oil fiters at Wallyworld

I went into Wallmart the other day and found that Ford has pulled all of the Motorcraft Oil filters from Wallmart shelves. The salesperson said that the filters will no longer be available at that store due to the fact that Wallmart was selling them at an affordable price, and this was undercutting Fords profits. The price at Wallmart was $17 plus change, and I believe Ford has them for somewhere around 30 bucks if I remember right. This ticks me off! It's not like they don't bend us over on the price of a diesel engine, then to make sure we get it again with maintenance costs. This to me seems like unfair marketing. What do you think?

I would suspect it is more like Wally World wanted to get them from Motorcraft cheaper to boost their margin and Motorcraft said no. I don't think Motorcraft would go out and pull all the Motorcraft oil filters from all retail outlets. Doesn't make sense.

The last one I bought at WW had no shrink wrap around it inside the box. I opened everyone on the shelf. None had the shrink wrap. All the others I bought previously that were Motorcraft were shrink wrapped. I wonder if Wally World was pulling something fast, got caught and Motorcraft is pulling off their shelves. That is a more likely scenario.

It's called maximizing your profit potential. Makes the economic world go round.

Wish I could do that in my business, but we are a design and build operation.

Hmmm, that is a curious thought. I for one would like to know the answer. The person in the auto department actually stated that Fords justification was that Wallmart was selling them too cheap, Ford didn't like it, and Wallmart wasn't willing to raise the price. At least I can still buy my diesel rated oil and fuel additive there.

Well there are still the online vendors, and also your trusty local International dealer, all with Racor filters for less than the dealer. Ford could have made some money selling them via Walmart, or *no* money when nobody buys them at the dealer anyway. Their choice.

I knew the prices on the Motorcraft semi-synthetic 5W-20 was too good to last...went in Walmart last week to buy a case and ran into the same thing already mentioned - ALL Motorcraft products have been pulled from WalMart shelves.

Additionally!!! they no longer sell the inexpensive ($1.17/qt.) Mobil Drive Clean 5W-30...the next cheapest dino oil is Mobil's 5000 (that new stuff) at $1.58 or $164/qt...can't remember exactly which it is...but I'm bummed!

Well...must be regional as to how quick they are pulling off the shelves. I just returned from my local Walmart and they had over a dozen filters plus stock of other Motorcraft items. Went ahead and bought two while I was there.

Maybe one of the WW Regional bigshots got one of the less than desirable 6.0s and pulled the Motorcraft products off the store shelves he is responsible for.

BTW SVB, All of the boxes I looked at had the filter wrap intack.

I have heard it both ways. I heard Ford dealers were upset that they were losing a fair share of the market because Wal-mart was selling the stuff at a much deeper discount. And I have heard it was Walmart's decision. I don't care for Walmart, but I don't want to have to go to the local dealer to get my oil and filters either. So me and a friend cleared out all our local Walmarts I got 72 quarts of 5W-20 and 20 filters and he got around 100 quarts of 5w-20 and 5w-30 and some filters.

Now I want have to go anywhere for a while.

I'm in Houston, and the store in Clear Lake did not carry them. The computer by the filters that you can use to find the correct part number did not even list the 6.0 as an option for any type of filter.

What do you expect the Wally World empoyees to say? Of course they will say it is the nasty old Ford being the culprit. We'll never know. I will shop around.

Thumbs down Motorcraft at Wally World

Yep. I posted this somewhere on another thread. Went to Wally World to get the Motorcraft 5W20 synthetic blend that I use in my wifes civic, and 5W30 in my daughter's Si. They were gone except for an end cap with the 5W20, or what was left of it. I got 10 quarts. Also, the quart bottles of 15W40 Power Stroke Diesel labeled oil were off the shelf. It was replaced with some no name cheap cheap cheap label oil where all the Motorcraft oil used to be. It seems a mighty strong coincidence that this oil showed up on the counter with UPC order labels and all on the shelves, at the same time the Motorcraft stuff disappeared. I used to work for Wally World, in store management, and I can tell you that bottom line is the ONLY thing that matters at that company. The rest of the gibberish is PR stuff only. At the local store, the 6.0 filters are stuck in a hole on the shelf. The automotive shop carries them for their oil change business, there were no labels on the shelf anywhere. I found by accident one day. $17 and change. Motorcraft 2016, all have shrink wrap with the new o-ring included. At least for now anyway.

Just got back from Wally World. They had 3 filters left (I only bought one since my truck is still on order....lol). None of them had shrink wrap. Lots of PS on the shelves. No oil except for the new Mobile 1.
That's the story from Mississippi.....
