Same here in the New Orleans area. Every Wal MArt I've been to has at least 7 filters for the 6.0L on the shelf. The only place that I found any motorcraft oil is at Auto Zone. And no one has any fuel filters fo my PSD, guess I'll order them tonight from oil guard.

That is a more likely scenario.
My oil change before last which was Nov 04; noticed same thing; had to go through several boxes to finally find one with plastic wrap over the instructions, o-ring, and filter. I also had thoughts about counterfeit filters?

Changed oil couple of weeks ago and Wal*Mart had plenty of oil filters with the plastic wrap; however, no more Motorcraft 15W-40 diesel oil. I use Rotella anyway....

Last week I ordered oil filters and fuel filters from oilguard and they were delivered early this week. All the oil filters have the plastic wrap although all have the wrap slightly torn. Overall everything looks great. The fuel filters were boxed.

Wal*Mart use to carry AC filters and dropped them a few years ago too. Or maybe AC dropped Wal*Mart! I recall issues with counterfeit AC filters on the market at the time too.

BTW, in my area DieselKleen is cheaper at Tractor Supply than Wal*Mart anyway. The checkout lines are shorter too.

I was at Wal-Mart last night in Houston getting oil & a filter and they still had quite a few various Motorcraft oil filters, but none for the 6.0, they did have about 20 for the 7.3. so I went to another Wal-Mart and they had a pretty good amount of various filters as well & had about 20 for the 6.0 but none for the 7.3.

I have been calling every wal-mart in Albuqerque, NMfor an oil filter, we have about 5 Wal-Marts, and all of them said they do not carry that filter anymore. Well I happened to call the last one on my list, instead of giving them the year make and model of my truck I gave them the part number FL-2016. They went to check the shelves and to my suprise there were three left. I rushed down there and their they were sitting on the shelf. I bought all three. I asked the sales rep if she could look on the data base to check if the filter was the correct one for my truck. She checked and told me that the 6.0L was not listed, she then checked her book and showed me that there was no listing for the 6.0L Turbo disel. I found that kind of odd since this is a popular truck. I then wondered if all of the other Wal-Marts were just looking in the book and couldn't find the listing and told me they did not have any????? I called the Las Lunas store and gave them the part # also they had 7 in stock at $17 + some change. I am debating whether to get them or not. I am kinda on a budget. I plan to check the other wal-marts to see if my theory is true. By the way is Part # FL-2016 the correct part # for the 2004 6.0L Turbo Disel oil filter.

It's kind of a crap shoot when you talk to Wally people. Some can put 2+2 together when it comes to interchanging #'s and some just use the book as biblical reference. If it aint in the book, it must not exsist you know. You have to remember that it isn't an automotive specialty store and their employees are more jacks of all sales. Nature of a big discount chain I suppose. International dealerships have a quality oil filter for 20 bucks too.

Noooo not the power service! Off to Wallyworld I go. I wonder if we can all put in a request to Costco for them to stock this stuff. I do know that the store buyers do look at the customer suggestions very attentative, being a membership store and all.

Why in the world would you buy it at Walmart for over $17bucks or the dealer for $35bucks when you can buy them at OilGuard for $11?? Same filter. I've been using them for a while now...they work great.

dogdude, where do you get the oilgaurd filter at. Where can I find some literature on the quality. The reason that I personally have tried to stay with motorcraft is that it is a Ford Filter and if a warranty issue ever arose, it seemed that the choice of the filter would be more or less ruled out as an cause. $11 sounds like a great price though.

Oilguard.com They sell the identical filter. There was a forum about this a few weeks ago. The Motorcraft and Oilguard filters are the same and have the same patent numbers on them. Just come in different boxes.
