Pats

Hello All,

I have a 2000 F-150 that I just purchased a few months ago that has the PATS system. I've learned that this system has some positives and negatives. Is there a way to disable the feature that makes me lock and unlock the doors with the FOB before I can start the truck. I now have to change the lock actuators because of this. I can only lock and unlock once before they quit working.

Thanks!!

Welcome to the forums.

You shouldn't have to use the remote fob to unlock the doors and for it to start. The PATS system just uses a chip in the key that the system has to reconize before it will start. The remote function is separate from the PATS as far as being able to start the truck.

I don't think this is a "function", sounds like an electrical problem. Do your doors lock after you put it in drive and take off?

Yes, they lock when I put in drive, and some times they will lock when I start up the truck.
