Funny or Odd Place Names In Your State
A friend of mine from out of state recently visited and he remarked that Washington State sure has a lot of strange sounding, funny town names. Here are just a few...
Aloha, WA
Humptulips, WA
La Push, WA
Pysht, WA
Ruff Starbuck, WA
Zillah, WA
Humptulips, WA
Snoqualmie, WA
Wellpinit, WA
Skookumchuck River
Snohomish River
Puyallup, WA
Sequim, WA
Dosewallups ,WA
Tillicum, WA
Kooskooskie, WA
Enumclaw, WA
Growing up here I guess I'm just used to them...but I can see how people might find them funny sounding. What are some of the stranger names in other states?

There's a place here called Half.com Oregon. Used to be called Halfway, but everyone there decided to change it a few years ago.

Dennis, in the first thread you have listed, I couldn't help but notice Boonville, Ca. was listed. I used to live there, it's only about 50 miles from where I live now. Not spelled with an "E" in the middle, though. Sometimes people call it "Boonsville" as well. It famous for having its own language, "Boontling".

Another thing I thought was interesting was the list of Spanish translations of California towns, although one of my favorites was missing; Los Banos, which can be translated as "The Toilets"! -TD

How could you forget Disco, rangersvt?? It's pretty close to Romeo, which is just south of where I grew up. We've got lots of weird street names too... Gratiot, Dequindre, Livernois... oh yeah, we've got it all. Heck, we've got potholes with their own zip codes! Maybe we should start naming the potholes too!
