Question 7.3L Horsepower, Torque and Towing capacity

Hi, Does anyone know about how much HORSEPOWER and TORQUE that a stock 1990 F350 7.3L NA navistar engine with an E4OD transmission has?
What is the towing capacity for this truck (single rear wheels)?
THANKS,
Jeremy

Red face Forgot

I forgot to mention the truck is 4X4 and not sure of the rear end ratio.

I think 185 hp and about 315 torque. My 90 E350 with E40D and 3.55 rear can tow 6400 lbs. by the book. I believe it will do more, and the F series will do more. If you don't get the right info here, try the towing forum. Some of those gurus have towing books.

Max gross combined weight is 20,000 pounds according to Ford.
Weigh your truck with you and the normal truck load while full of fuel.
Then take that number away from 20,000 and you have the max towing weight allowed.

For what it is worth, if that number is over 10,000 pounds there are some new rules coming online after the 9/11 ordeal.
Work or business related towing requires the truck be registered for the entire combined weight.
Any vehicle registered for more than 10,000 pounds requires a DOT number.
Any vehicle towing more than a 10,000 pound trailer may require a class A CDL.

DOT number is free so far. But you do have to read and fill out a lot of forms. They also require a credit card in your name to use as a signature only, no charge to the card. Then there are rules about marking your truck and displaying the number.

http://www.safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/

Copy and paste that link, once there click on "FMCSA Registration & Updates"
Left column top selection under "FMCSA Services".

The Class A CDL is a little pricey though.

Thanks Dave. It is amazing the fall out from 911. Just hope it is for the good of all.

Well my thought on that is this, if I was a terrorist and wanted to get next to something downtown to cause mass destruction, would I use an RV trailer or a flat bed trailer to hide my bomb in? Duh, I think I can hide it on a flat bed better.

RV's and boats do not have to do this registration thing.

But we are a little different in how we think here in WV, it's the hillbilly in us or something.
