Burning Oil??

Burning Oil??
I seem to smell burning oil after my truck has been sitting for a couple of hours and I have to get up to speed fast, about 4500-5000rpm in 1st gear. The engine is warm when I do this, but its not a continuous burning smell its just at that point from 4500-5000 rpm. Below that in 1st gear its fine, dont smell any other time in any other gear, of course i dont get into this high of rpms in any other gear. Any ideas guys?

Just checked the entire length of the exhaust pipes, and found nothing. I doubt this is the problem because the smell only comes at those high rpm's whereas if it was on the pipes it would burn off as soon as it got warm. The belt looks fine, no cracks or anything not real slick like it was slipping or anything. Is there any other way to check bearings besides listening and looking, because from that point it seems fine.

You can check the bearing of the alternator and such by doing it the old fashion way. Be careful while do this though!! Get a broom stick or something similar and place one end on the alternator body or whatever while the truck is running. Place your ear up the other end and listen. You will hear quickly if there is a bad bearing. I doubt that this is your problem though. If the burning smell is an oil smell, then it is most likely a leak somewhere that is burning off on the exhaust manifold and it may not be leaking unless it is under pressure at the higher RPM's when the oil pressure is higher. Just a thought.
