F1 Cab Mounting Question

F1 Cab Mounting Question
On my 51 F1 I installed new rubber bushings in the cab mounting brackets/arms. My question is how much clearance do you guys have between rear of the cab and the running boards. I have around a 1/4" of gap there. The orginal right side running board had been dented from the cab coming down on it. I have installed new steel boards and I want to be sure I have enough clearance.
Thanks in advance

I'm not sure what the clearance is supposed to be, before I tore my truck apart I had very little, and the cab was gouging the fiberglass running boards. I've got the chassis reassembled, but in the process found a couple things that were making the cab sag that you might want to check if you haven't already. First, my cab suspension arms were very badly worn, probably so much as to result in at least 1/4 inch or more of sag. I replaced those with new forged I beam type arms. Second, the brackets that bolt to the frame that the rear suspension arms bolt to: One of these had the holes "wallered" out too, at least 1/8 inch wear on the bottom side. I took some extra thick grade 8 washers that matched the bolt size and welded them on both sides of those brackets in the correct location. The washers are thicker than the actual bracket so should be plenty to provide support. I hope to have reassembly of the body onto the frame in the summer so I will see if I did much good to raise the cab up some.
oh, one other thing I did just in case was I ground the lip off the bottom of the cab that seemed to be the offending "gouger". I ground it off as much as I could and ran a weld bead on the top and bottom side. If I don't get as much correction to the cab height as I hope, maybe I'll at least not tear up the running boards.
Hope this helps,
Scott
