Agree completely. Had a buddy that had the drop in K&N in a 96 and evidently it didn't seal right. Ate his turbo up in less than 30k.

A open element filter will lower egt's. Also what chip are you running. Some chips a known to have higher egt's than others. Another thing, you say your running high egt's towing. How high is high and pre or post turbo pyro?

I have the Tymar set-up and love it. Some replicate it and do it theirselves. Its not hard.

Their is the tymar kit. go to tymarperformance to order. Or as you can see its easy to duplicate.

About 120-130 bucks. cant remember exact. +ship and handle

Still alot cheaper than you'll pay for a open element k&n or AFE(200+$'s)

hte lag is pretty small with the ic, the nice thing is do you notice loosing power when your egts are coming up while running long hills?? the ic will minimize that by keeping your intake temps down which mean denser air. ive got mine ic'ed and i didnt notice much lag. but dropped my egts 200 in most cases

the idm mod. wont notice it if your runnin stock injectors. the gains with stock will be very minimal. with an after market injector and a chip matched to that injector and your truck you will really notice it big time.

im getting ready to put baby swamps in my truck, swamped IDM and tony wildman chip. wont be any turbo lag at all anymore.

the h20 injection works great like the dps system, i run that on my van. its just adding water the h20 works incredible with an intercooler also. my buddies truck can run like 700-800 degrees preturbo. 15k behing the truck hot chip 175's and h2e and intercooler, running the hills with the water he hasnt seen it above 800degress, but thats with both.

Mine ended up costing about $250 for everything, of course I got my intercooler for free.
went to gts motor sports, to article you mentioned in your tread but was unable to find. please help or if you can give the name brand of the installation kit you used to mock a superduty intercooler into obs thanks

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...nfo-links.html

It will get you started. Not sure if there are any kits you can buy these days. Most guys get some pipes and hafta add to them.

Intercooler

I have a 1997 F250 super cab PSD with 330K miles and a single position chip..... I was told i could not go with a bigger chip because of the fact i dont have an intercooler. Is this true? I was thinking of buying an intercooler off of a 99 and a piping kit to hook up. Is it worth it? I have stock injectors (to the best of my knowledge), with K&N and 3" straight pipe from the turbo back.

Welcome to the site, I recommend you to start a NEW thread with this questions. You can use the chip without the IC, but not without gauges. Ditch that K&N filter.
