Looks really good...As for suggestions, most junk yards I have been to try to keep vehicle sorted as to make, like all fords together all chevies, the one here also tries to keep models together.. They also keep trucks seperate from cars and sorted by make

Good luck!!

Looks good, but every junkyard I've ever been in has dirt instead of grass on the ground, and turns into a mudhole in the winter. So maybe you ought to replace the grass with dirt, and be sure to add plenty of oil stains. And as Taz said above, sort by make. And they usually don't start stacking the cars till they run out of space on the ground. -TD

WHAT A COOL IDEA!!!

One VERY important detail suggestion for you.....

A 1:25 scale MEANER THAN HECK junk yard dog!

Maybe you can pose him chomp'n on the leg of some unsuspecting wrenchhead with a toolbox in his hand.

Don't forget about the 8 ft fence made with old fence boards with peep holes in a few of them.

You also need a service truck like a tow or flatbed that removes parts & hauls them to the office area.
You may want to build an office first though.

I too was going to mention a dog or two, two is better. That way at least one will be awake.

One of the yards we have up here uses two wheel rims welded together ( one laying flat the other welded to it in the upright position) to make a stand ....4 per car on the frame

What part of MO are you from? If your near Kirksville you can come and look around or take pictures or what ever at the salvage yard I work at. You really need mud holes and maybe a few parts laying on the ground also a loader or a boomtruck. Dave.PS you also need a DNR guy snooping around to see if ther is any batteries on the ground or how much oil and antifreeze are spilt on the ground.

that looks great, One thing you could add is the junk yard parts beater with a set of cutting torches sticking out of the trunk with at least one flat tire and missing the doors.

lots of questions:

you used tinfoil to make the crunched body panels, right? how did you attach them? what did you use for rust, and if it's a product, do you have a link? did you make any rust holes? If so, how? did you detail any rusty, oil covered engines? what did you use for oil, and how did you detail those?

I LOVE rusted out, dented up broken down hulks of a model car, instead of just the perfect vehicles that everyone makes.

You're missing a few things:

1. The office
2. The junkyard dog(s)
3. The fork lift (big)
4. The engine pile
5. The axle pile
6. The tire pile
7. The old shed(s) with parts in 'em
8. Old bus(es) with parts in 'em
9. The wall o' bumpers and hubcaps
10. The gopher kid that works there.

That model looks great! The only thing I might get picky with is the color of the ground, it looks maybe a little too green, around my area junkyards resemble big mud fields, and the mud is an ugly clay brown color.

Looks good, but I didn't see anyone mention wasp/hornet nests and a few snakes. Brady

My favorite junkyard has rolling A-frames w/ chain hoists. It'd be cool to have one of those straddling a car w/ a big greasy old engine hanging from it!

Great list rusty70f100.

I'd like to add another item:

11. The junk yard owners wife who's missing all but two front teeth working the cash register.

Wow , thats alot of idea`s ! I already had plans on the rolling engin lifts and fence , thanks for backing me up on that . I have an old flat bed truck and trailor for the go gitter truck . I still need to rebuild it and junk it out. Thanks for the welder/torch idea , I`ll need to put it on the go gitter truck .

I don`t know if I`ll be able to do a shop/office or not , space is very tight for me . I live in a trailor and I`m 17 so I got the smallest bedroom . My bedroom is more like a walk in closet . That why I didn`t make a huge junk yard like I would have loved to of . Its more like a small part of a big junk yard . The way I have it set up I can ad ot to it to make it longer or wider later one when I have my own place or when we move into a house or ad on to the trailor .

That model looks great! The only thing I might get picky with is the color of the ground, it looks maybe a little too green, around my area junkyards resemble big mud fields, and the mud is an ugly clay brown color.
Good point , I gess I`ll rip up some of the grass and put down some dirt (alot cheaper than the grass too BTW )

1. The office
2. The junkyard dog(s)
3. The fork lift (big)
4. The engine pile
5. The axle pile
6. The tire pile
7. The old shed(s) with parts in 'em
8. Old bus(es) with parts in 'em
9. The wall o' bumpers and hubcaps
10. The gopher kid that works there.
I don`t have room for the busses , sheds ect. but the wall of bumpers , junk piles ect. it a can do . Thanks for the input !

shortymac83 , I hot glue for the aluminum foil panels , I use real rust . Here is how I do it ...

Here is some better pics of the cars http://public.fotki.com/76maverick/my_junkers/

The #17 demo durby car isn`t done yet . I still need to weather it ect.

Thanks alot every one !
