I am installing new lightning gt40's on my 95 xlt 5.8.

1. Will I need new valve covers just for the gt40's?

2. Will Steeda 1.7 rockers fit under the stock valve covers?

3. If I need tall valve covers, will the tall valve covers fit under my XLT intake? If not, what are my options short of a gt40 intake and spacers? I have not found anyone who makes phenolic spacers for the stock intake.

4. I believe that K&N are the only ones to offer an intake kit for this model, any other options would be appreciated.

Are you talking about the normal Steeda 1.7s or there shaft mount setup?The normal steeda 1.7s are the same rocker as the crane 1.7s(Crane makes both the steeda and the FMS ones) and they fit under my stock valve covers.

 

I am most interested in the steeda shaft mount but whichever fits is what I will wind up with.

I did some reading on the shaft mount rockers and it sounds like they fit.Looks like a nice setup if i had pedestal mount heads i'd deffinately use those.

 

I am also on NLOC, I used to have a 95 lightning. I am just in a tough spot b/c if they don't fit it's a total waste due to the fact that I am not going to switch uppers.

How much hp does 1.7 make over 1.6 for the same head/cam?
