Mid-Atlantic and Virginia Chapter Drag race- April 9th
Greetings, all. BigBlue88 here. A friend of mine has asked if the <b>Mid-Atlantic</b> and <b>Virginia</b> FTE chapters would like to join her F-Body car club for drag racing at Cecil County Dragway (Maryland, north of Baltimore) on April 9th.
The event is called the <b>American Street Shootout</b>, designed to replace the cancelled American Iron Shootout. All street legal AMERICAN cars and trucks are welcome. $35 track fee at the gate. It'd be great to have a bunch of Ford trucks out there, representing the Mid-Atlantic and Virginia chapters, and FTE in general.
Race format is heads-up .500 sportsman tree, not bracket racing, with timeslip comparisons afterwards. There are several differet classes already. If 5 or more FTE members sign up for the race, <b>we'll get our own race class</b>. If lots of FTE members show up, we'll get multiple classes (300/302/5.4/diesel, etc.) Within each class are awards for best Reaction time, ET, MPH and 60' time.
Typically, everyone drives up/down Friday afternoon, and stays at the local Knights Inn in Elkton, MD ((410) 392-6680). There's a special Street Shootout rate of $49.95/night, double occupancy. Barbecue and beers for everyone. Saturday we race, and Saturday night is the <b>after-race BBQ and beers get-together</b>. Then people leave on Sunday. You're welcome to come and go as you please.
Registration is not neccesary to race! Anyone is welcome to come and race. The past few years races have been tremendous amounts of fun!
