proper TV cable adjustment

88' bronco, 5.0 L EFI, normally when I adjust the TV cable I hold the throttle wide open release the clamp and reclamp it and it's adjusted, reading thru the haynes manual they describe a different method, tranny in N, release clamp, hold trans TV lever against it's idle position stop and reclamp, is one way a better adjustment than the other or is there yet a nother way to proporly adjust?

proper method

Is with a pressure gauge and a block .390 - .404 thick.
The block is placed between the cable and the stop.
Pressure should be close to 33psi. idling, in Park.
Remove the block and the pressure should drop to 5psi. or lower.

It has to be for a non-computer controlled transmission because the computer controlled ones do not have a TV cable, and they are not adjustable.
