I'm on the verge of picking up a kit but was wondering if I can even get a signal up there. Does anyone have it and if so which do you like XM or Sirius?
Thanks
Not sure if Sirrus works up here but I do get it over my SAT TV and love the selections. If it was ever to work up here realible I would suscribe to it.

It does not work here in the interior at all. I don't know about Kodiak but I would guess that it doesn't work there either. We are too far North from where the satellites are. I would check before I spent any money on it. I would love to have it but there are just some things money cant buy.

"Is XM Service available in Canada and Mexico?
XM is only licensed to provide service to the US (All states except Alaska and Hawaii), its territories and adjacent waters. XM's satellite signal reaches into portions of Canada and Mexico near the U.S. borders however, XM's service is not currently sold in Canada, Mexico or any other region outside of the continental United States."
"6. Is SIRIUS available in Canada or Mexico?
At this time SIRIUS is only licensed to offer service within the continental United States. However, we are taking steps to become a licensed broadcaster throughout Canada: check out this press release for more information."
Hope that helps.

I live way out west in the Pribilofs (770mi west of Anchorage, and north of Dutch Harbor) and you can get reception for XM here. I don't have it personally but a few people I know pick it up fine. I don't think Kodiak would be a problem.
Well I can't answer your radio question boatcop, but when you get to Kodiak and get settled in, be sure to stop by and join with your fellow Alaskans in the Alaska Chapter of FTE!!! We'll be looking for you!
