How much power difference did you notice?
Racerguy,
It's not more power that I notice, instead it's a refreshing "smoothness". It runs smoother and the power has a more consistent feeling. I'm not sure if I gained the difference from the new exhaust or the cleaning of the throttle body. Did I mentioned I cleaned the egr ports in the throttle body - don't think I did, sorry. I cleaned the upper half of the throttle body before I removed the old exhaust. That way any cleaner I used or particles I dislodged would exit out the old exhaust and not the new one. Anyway, reminds me of the way it use to feel when it only had 50,000 miles on it.

Hard to believe that 285,000 miles and it doens't use or leak any oil between changes. And it can still break the tires loose. I love this motor!

I did a search on the internet and found a place in New York that had what I wanted. California has a tougher smog standard, so the cats go for a premium. Also, I have found that a 1997 Ford F-150 is one of the most expensive sets as well. The cheapest set I found for "NEW", not used, was $699 out the door. They are called "direct fit" and that is exactly what they were. They bolted and clamped together exactly like the factory originals. If you do not live in Calif, you should be able to get direct fit's for half that price. Good luck!

The number I called to get pricing and order my cats is:

1-800-965-0040

They are tax free (New York) and shipping is also free.

For the record, I am not endorsing in any way the above mentioned parts warehouse as there may be sponsors of this site that can offer the same product with competitive pricing.
