i had to have 25 posts according to forum rules before i could post a url to another cite and now that i have that i will show you what i was talking about in reguards to the 6 speed allison auto.
I have to disagree, there's an order form right now on ford.com's commercial truck webpage where you can order those engines, I took them directly off the site as I was posting them, it's up to date. Also, just because DC bought Dodge doesn't automatically mean that their trucks have the same reputation as all MB or Freightliner trucks, how much have they actually redesigned since taking over the company? I didn't see a complete and total redesign from Dodge...It's also no myth that the CAT will generally not need to be worked on and replaced as often as the Cummins will...Dodge fans tend to look at vehicles and engines based on how much it will cost to replace parts or repair the engine, this is generally not the case from Ford fans...That says something to me...
Dodge redesigned the Ram on 02. A full redesign, new everything. And shortly after, revamped or updated the powerplants in tha Ram lineup.
5.9 360 V8 - 5.7 Hemi V8
5.2 318 V8 - 4.7 V8
I think they left the V6 as it was.(correct me if they replaced it as well) The 5.9L Cummins has had its share of updates since 02 as well.
Dodge redesigned the Ram on 02. A full redesign, new everything. And shortly after, revamped or updated the powerplants in tha Ram lineup.

So, define full redesign. What exatcly was upgraded, and how much of it came from Freightliner and MB's OTR lines? I mean, I didn't see Dodge go through this great transformation...

So, is that an admission that it isn't the same Cummins as it was when it first went into the Rams?

Pure hearsay. Only injectors have had problems, and even the Cummins is having those as well along with lift and transfer pump problems.
The 6.0L has not had problems with cranks or rods, the 6.0L has been used in the International trucks for almost 5 years with no such problems, known as the VT-365. The next PSD is supposed to be a 6.4L twin turbo but thats just gossip at this point. Ford has not shown any signs of leaving International for their diesel engines.
No, Ford used to own some stock in Cummins, but sold it off many years ago. Ford has no affiliation with Cummins except for the engine contracts for the F-650 and F-750 trucks.

Well I have heard of the Turbo hoses blowing of quite a bit. Also Ford has halted International production of an inline 6 for their 1/2 ton becasue of the current PSD issues - That's even been documented on this site.

Thought it was a V-6 4.5L PSD? They're already making it for the new Ford LCF trucks. Its just a halt for the F-series, not the whole Ford line altogether.
